The School of Arts & Science seeks a leader who is innovative, visionary, creative, and most of all, passionate about the arts and sciences and the space these programs hold in our global society. The new Dean will work closely with the Provost, the Dean for the LaPenta School of Business, Chairpersons, and Faculty, providing leadership to advance the institution's priorities and develop an academic agenda that prioritizes enrollment growth and student success. Home to 28 undergraduate programs including occupational therapy, criminal justice, computer science, speech, music, mass communications, English, history and political science, and philosophy, the School is also largely responsible for the courses of study offered in the liberal education program.
The next Dean for the School of Arts & Science should hold an earned Ph.D. or terminal degree in a programmatic discipline of the School and bring demonstrated excellence in teaching and scholarship/creative activity. The successful candidate will have experience in positions of increasing responsibility in the arts and sciences, ideally at the level of department chair or above, and will demonstrate leadership including new academic program creation as well as personnel and budget management.
