Job Summary


 

GateWay Early College High School has an exciting teaching role open in their Elective Department.

This great position begins: July 2023.

This is a high school teaching position committed to and supports the vision and goals of the Early College High School. Serves as an instructional team member by developing and implementing Arizona standards-based lesson plans.

Essential Functions


 

50% - Performs duties of an instructional team member, which includes developing and implementing a standard-based, student-centered, projected-based curriculum; develops and implements Arizona standards-based lesson plans to enhance the affective and cognitive development of students; works collaboratively with college staff in developing improved articulation between high school and college curricula and developing learning experiences; advocates, nurtures and sustains a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth; uses data to change teaching systematically and collaboratively; utilizes performance based assessment strategies including student portfolios; facilitates the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of the Learning College philosophy; establishes partnerships with businesses and community agencies.

30% - Establishes a cooperative partnership with parents and students; facilitates resolution of problems that might arise with students and parents; assesses student performance frequently and objectively; facilitates student led parent/teacher conferences; explicitly states each student's progress, both educationally and socially, through quarterly reports, phone calls to parents and weekly student meetings.

10% - Performs advisor duties for students; ensures service learning opportunities and job internships for students; monitors community services hours.

10% - Participates in ongoing professional development designed to improve student achievement; serves on high school committees; demonstrates an understanding of course sequencing/departmental requirements/graduation requirements, etc.; supports and facilitates the inclusion of students with special needs; facilitates extracurricular and after school activities for students; performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications


 

Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, secondary education or related field.
