STATUS: Full-time, 12 months
DIVISION: Student Affairs
REPORTS TO: Director of Student Engagement
SUPERVISES: N/A
FLSA STATUS: Exempt


 

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement will play an integral role in furthering the Office of Student Engagement initiatives at CCS. The position will focus on the oversight and management of existing Student Engagement initiatives, such as Student Activities Board (SAB) and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), as well as ongoing development of new co-curricular initiatives, such as service learning. The Assistant Director will have a direct impact on student involvement on campus, enhancing the student campus experience and impacting student retention.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement, and support a wide variety of both new and existing student activities to engage the entire CCS campus community both on and off campus.
  • Direct supervision of the Student Activities Board (SAB) and oversight of its programs, including Welcome Week.
  • Management of CCS Registered Student Organizations, including Officer and Advisor training & support.
  • Oversight of Peacock Pride, the CCS student involvement portal.
  • Partner with other CCS offices to provide well-rounded campus programming.
  • Manage the Weekly Student Email, the campus involvement newsletter.
  • Assist in planning of Fall and Winter New Student Orientations.
  • Support of other Student Engagement initiatives as appropriate (co-curricular transcript support, leadership development, first-gen & transfer student programs, etc).
  • Participation in CCS Commencement ceremonies.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Higher Education/Student Affairs or related field.
  • Previous experience working with large scale student events in a college environment.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Comfortable with engaging campus partners, working one-on-one, as well as with large groups in a presentation or workshop setting.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.


 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position, use a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually. Frequent interaction with others, including staff, faculty, students, and third parties is required. The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places. The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required. CCS will make reasonable accommodations that will allow individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
