The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology), and the Dr. John T. MacDonald Foundation Biomedical Nanotechnology Institute are seeking a tenure-track Associate Professor to complement our vibrant, collaborative and accomplished research community. A degree in Biochemistry or a related field is required. The candidate must be able to seek and obtain extramural funding , preferably federal funding and be able to publish in high impact scientific journals in their respective field of research. The faculty member will be responsible for teaching and mentoring of undergraduate, medical, and graduatestudents as well as postdoctoral and medical fellows. Must be able to successfully establish and manage an independent research group. A competitive start-up package will be provide to assist with this.
Along with the above, the right candidate will be the Director of 3D Prototyping and Biomaterials. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for developing new tools for researchers, surgeons and clinicians. Will also be responsible for developing biomaterials for researchers across the Miller School of Medicine and throughout the University.
The ability to interface with clinicians is of extreme importance. Therefore, this position will also serve as the Director for Basic Research in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery. In this role, the candidate will coordinate with faculty and research staff to ensure high-quality proposals are being submitted. Will work towards positioning the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery to successfully compete for extramural funding with the NIH, Patient-Center Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), Plastic Surgery Foundation (PSF), and other federal, state, and local sponsoring agencies. Will assist faculty in developing research interests into tangible, sustainable projects that lead to local and national presentations, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and future funded research. Finally, will promote interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the University campus to foster the growth and recognition of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery, and University of Miami
