Position Description:

A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available in an NCI funded cancer research lab in Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology to study the epigenetic mechanisms of histone demethylation in breast cancer progression and therapeutic response. The PI’s lab has enriched research experience and established experimental skills in breast cancer biology and uses a broad range of techniques to study the mechanisms underlying breast cancer tumorigenesis and development, including (1) genomic and epigenomic profiling, genotyping, multiplex immunoassay, CRISPR/Cas9 technology and library screening, various cancer biology and epigenetic tools; (2) multiple immunological approaches to study chemokine/cytokine function, T cell-mediated responses and antibody-based immunotherapy; (3) utilization of multiple mouse models to study in vivo therapeutic response. The University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is a top-tier medical school in one of the most livable cities in the country.

Education Requirement:

A successful candidate should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in the biomedical sciences with at least 3 years of bench research experience, and a good publication track record in health science research.

Required Qualifications:

  • A background in molecular biology and pharmacology.

  • Experience with sterile mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning, and/or cancer therapeutics is desirable.

  • Experience in working with mice.

  • The ability to design, execute and interpret experiments and draft manuscripts.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with histochemical staining such as immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry.

  • Experience with flow sorting, cell cycle analysis and CRISPR knockout technology.

  • Tumor implantation and therapeutic treatment in mice.

  • Applicants should be passionate about conducting scientific research and be able to work both independently and as an effective member of a research team.
