The Department of Medicine- Pulmonary Medicine has 3 exciting opportunities for Post Doctoral Scholars. The Post Doctoral Scholar takes initiative and works independently in developing new research ideas and troubleshooting new assays. Further, the incumbent facilitates the training of students, residents, fellows, and other trainees.

• Assists in planning and designing research experiments, establishes priorities, and recommends schedules.

• Presents research findings at local and national scientific conferences.

• Writes technical publications and reports.

• Designs and writes programs to perform analysis and produces written reports on results.

• Collects pilot data to help support new and competing renewal applications.

• Supervises undergraduate and graduate research students and performs literature reviews.

• Contribute significantly to study design, execution, and interpretation.

• Present at research in progress conferences and relevant pulmonary or sleep national and international conferences.

• Prepare and submit manuscripts.

• Maintain appropriate ethics training.

• Generate progress reports for annual reporting requirements. 

• Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                        

• MD or Ph.D. in relevant field

• Basic or clinical research experience in the field of pulmonary or sleep medicine

• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

• Excellent writing and editing skills.

• Strong work habits and ability to work independently as well as with a team.

• Existing basic or clinical research in the field of pulmonary or sleep medicine
