Postdoctoral Associate

An electrophysiology postdoctoral position is immediately available for a motivated individual to join a dynamic multidisciplinary research team studying molecular, cellular, and circuit mechanisms underlying long-term memory storage and Alzheimer’s Disease.

Examples of ongoing Puthanveettil laboratory research can be found in the following recent publications: Badal et al., Cell Reports (2019); Swarnkar et al., Scientific Reports (2018); Raveendra et al., PNAS (2018); Rizzo et al., Biological Psychiatry CNNI (2017); Swarnkar et al., Cell Reports (2021) and Grinman et al., Science Advances, (2021).

Candidates should be able to work interactively in a highly collaborative research environment. This position is open for two years with the potential for further extension. The National Institutes of Health fund this project.

Furthermore, there are opportunities for collaborating with other departments at The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology, along with our neighboring institutions the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience and the Florida Atlantic University Brain Institute. The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Biomedical Research Department of Neuroscience has state-of-the-art facilities for imaging, genomics, proteomics, biochemistry and rodent behavior assays.

Must possess a doctoral degree. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of Dr. Puthanveettil.

In particular, we are looking for an electrophysiologist with experience in field electrophysiology and/or patch whole cell in brain slices and neuronal cells. Competitive candidates will have one or more first-author manuscripts accepted or published in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
