Job Description:

The Engineering School of Sustainable Infrastructure and Environment (ESSIE) at the University of Florida has an opening for a full-time postdoctoral associate in the field of aquatic biogeochemistry. The position requires a PhD in Biogeochemistry, Oceanography, Marine Science, Aquatic Chemistry, Molecular Biology, or a similar field obtained within the last 3 years.

The successful applicant will join an exciting multi-disciplinary project studying dissolved organic matter and phytoplankton dynamics in estuarine systems. The successful applicant will also be encouraged to explore new research endeavors in areas of aquatic biogeochemistry outside of this project. Highly motivated candidates with strong analytical skills in the analysis of dissolved organic matter and/or microbial communities are encouraged to apply and to incorporate their interests into the project. A demonstrated record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals is required. Experience with fluorescence spectroscopy and/or stable isotope is looked upon favorably.

The post-doc will work under the direction of Dr. Elise Morrison. The position is for 20 months, beginning as early as May 2023 with the possibility of an additional 12-month renewal, pending funding.

Expected Salary:

$54,000
