OSITION DESCRIPTION

The Compton Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions to teach courses with emphasis in Mathematics.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:\

Master's degree in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelor's degree in either of the

above AND Master's degree in statistics, physics, or mathematics education OR the equivalent.

Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above must complete the

supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are

equivalent to those above OR possess a valid California community college instructor credential

in appropriate subject issued prior to July 1, 1990 (per California Education Code 87355) AND

have sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic

backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Recent experience teaching mathematics at the community college level. At least three years'

experience teaching mathematics at any level. Effective oral and written communication skills.

Experience using technology to improve student learning, such as using course management

systems, computer algebra systems, and graphic calculators. Experience using and developing a

variety of teaching methodologies to engage students. Experience teaching basic skills math

classes (Arithmetic through Elementary Algebra).

 

 

COMPENSATION
HOURLY RANGE: $44.79 - $72.27 (depending upon education and experience)

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part time teaching assignment(s). Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card.
