JOB DESCRIPTION
- FULL TIME
The School of Communication & Public Affairs in the College of Arts & Cultural Studies is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Strategic Media and Leadership to begin Fall 2023. Review of applications will begin immediately.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:
- Teach 24-25 hours of strategic median and leadership courses. Strategic Media courses could include any of the following: digital media, public relations, advertising, and related courses annually (fall and spring semesters) which may include Social Media Management, Cross-platform Writing, Brand Marketing & Management, Strategic Communication Research, Media Audiences & Analytics, Campaign Strategies, Creative Thinking, Concepting & Design.
- Assist in the design and curriculum planning of new online programs.
- Advise Leadership Studies students and Strategic Media students.
- Connect students with and review internship opportunities.
- Engage in scholarly research, presentations, and publications and in professional development activities.
- Be involved in university activities such as faculty meetings, committee meetings, retreats, and chapel services.
- Additional skills and experience which may elevate one's candidacy with expertise in debate coaching, event planning, grant writing and nonprofit management, philanthropy, and other communication activities.
REQUIREMENTS
- Have a demonstrated history of or potential for successful and excellent teaching and student engagement.
- Hold a terminal degree in Leadership or Strategic Media or closely related field.
- Demonstrate integrated faith in the classroom, the church, and community.
- Demonstrate academic and professional qualifications to serve in an interdisciplinary role.
- Have professional experience in marketing, advertising, public relations and/or nonprofit management.
