Minimum Qualifications
·Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three (3) successful years in rules compliance at a Division I university is required
·Experience with entering and submitting data through NCAA Compliance Assistant software is required
·Master's degree is preferred

Purpose of Job
The Assistant Vice President for Athletic Compliance and Academic Services is responsible for providing senior level administrative support to the Department of Athletics. The Assistant Vice President for Athletic Compliance and Academic Services serves as the university's chief administrator for state, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC), and NCAA Division I rules compliance. Additionally, the Assistant Vice President for Athletic Compliance and Academic Services serves as the liaison to all university departments involved in the recruitment, certification, matriculation, and graduation of student athletes at Alcorn State University.

Scope of Responsibilities
The Assistant Vice President for Athletic Compliance and Academic Services oversees university, state, SWAC, and NCAA rules compliance for all Division I sports teams, and serves as an educational resource to student athletes, coaches, athletics administration staff, and all other appropriate staff at Alcorn State University. Additionally, the Assistant Vice President for Athletic Compliance and Academic Services serves as the liaison between the Department of Athletics and academic departments, Registrar, Financial Aid, Admissions and Recruitment, Residence Life, Bursar, and Institutional Research and Assessment to provide leadership in rules compliance and student athlete success.

Essential Job Functions
·Coordinating all aspects of the initial eligibility certification process for all prospective student athletes
·Monitoring the continuing eligibility for all continuing student athletes
·Maintaining team rosters and eligibility lists for all team sports
·Educating student athletes, parents, coaches, university faculty and staff, and alumni on SWAC and NCAA rules compliance
·Training academic departments and advisors on tracking and reporting progress towards degree
·Preparing and submitting routine reports/forms including, but not limited to, initial eligibility form, progress towards degree form, team rosters, certification of participation form, eligibility certification report, length of playing time report, phone log and countable related activities report, and academic progress rate (APR) report
·Tracking transfer-out student athletes for delayed graduation points
·Reviewing and amending the university compliance handbook for continuous improvement
·Maintain certification and eligibility files for all student athletes
·Ensuring the quality and security of all certification, graduation success rate, APR, and other pertinent compliance data
·Serving as an advocate for the personal, academic, and athletic success of student athletes and a
resource to coaches and other university staff
·Performing other duties as assigned by the President
