Eluna, formerly known as The Moyer Foundation, is a public, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Philadelphia with a mission to support children and families impacted by grief or addiction. Founded in 2000 in Seattle by former MLB pitcher Jamie Moyer and child advocate Karen Phelps Moyer, Eluna supports thousands of children and families across North America annually through its programs and services, Camp Erin, Camp Mariposa and the Eluna Resource Center. 

Eluna is looking for a seasoned development professional to join its hard working team as a Major Gifts Officer (MGO). The MGO will report to the CEO and is chiefly responsible for executing a fundraising campaign and playing a critical role in developing and executing a comprehensive development strategy for the organization.    

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual and institutional prospects  

  • Design, develop and execute a successful major gifts program at Eluna 

  • Work closely with the CEO, BOD, & key staff to meet or exceed short term and long term funding goals including a fundraising campaign 

  • Cultivate new donors and steward existing donors to exceed their philanthropic goals through a meaningful relationship with Eluna  

  • Create and execute customized donor plans to improve retention and conversion rates 

  • Meticulously manage systems and software to track and report on donors and prospect activity, including but not limited to frequent use of donor database and wealth screening tools 

  • Make frequent direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their development needs 

  • Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition 

  • Plan and execute donor appreciation and cultivation activities in partnership with key staff 

  • Track and report progress using metrics  

  • Perform other development activities as may be required 

 Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive major gifts, campaign or sales experience and demonstrated success raising significant funds for a similarly situated organization(s) 

  • Highly motivated with a strong connection to and passion for the organization's mission  

  • Demonstrated success designing and implementing successful major gift strategies and campaigns  

  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a value-added team player who can thrive in a cross-functional capacity, collaborate with and develop others, and work well independently to deliver on time sensitive items to achieve long term strategic goals  

  • Highly skilled at cultivating relationships, both internally and externally, including high net worth individuals

  • Meticulous with follow-up and follow through with donors 

  • Possess an innovative, strong work ethic; energetic and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, relationship driven team-oriented environment 

  • Exceptional presentation, written and oral communication skills; demonstrated ability to inspire a variety of audiences and articulate the importance of Eluna’s mission, programs and funding needs in a concise and compelling manner  

  • Experience with Salesforce and Donor Search preferred, familiarity with similar donor management or CRM software required 

  • Experience with human services causes preferred 

  • Ability to travel at least 50% with some weekends and nights for event attendance 

  • Confidentiality, honesty and discretion required
