Position Summary

The Zychowski Laboratory (UNM-College of Nursing, Health Sciences) is seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellow to work in an exciting Environmental Toxicology research laboratory. The focus of our research involves examining basic biological mechanisms of air pollution exposures. We are also spearheading clinical and translational studies related to Environmental and Occupational Health. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will focus on examination of basic biological mechanisms of air pollution exposures. The ideal candidate will have a background in molecular biology, mechanistic toxicology, vascular biology, molecular epidemiology and/or neuroscience. The selected candidate will be responsible for assuming his/her own independent project, generate data, deliver seminars and write scientific manuscripts.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. Contract eligible for renewal on an annual basis contingent on job performance and available funding. Salary is in accordance with the NIH Postdoctoral stipend scale.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Toxicology or related science (Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental health disparities in underserved communities
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well as working in broadly diverse communities

Experience in/or with:

  • RT-qPCR
  • Cell culture
  • Extracellular vesicle (EV) biology
  • ELISAs, multiplex cytokine kits (such as MesoScale kits or similar)
  • Immunofluorescent staining protocols, confocal or high-content microscopy and imaging techniques
  • Ability to establish new protocols
  • Mouse handling
