Position Highlights The Space4 Center at the University of Arizona has an exciting new opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be responsible for research and development of machine learning, convex, and stochastic optimization methods in Astrodynamics for application to space domain awareness with special emphasis in orbit determination, sensor tasking and guidance, control, and navigation in cislunar space.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Develop methods and algorithms based on machine learning and convex and/or stochastic optimization for analysis and characterization of behavior of space object in LEO/MEO/GEO/XGEO.
  • Develop stochastic and convex optimization methods for sensor tasking and catalog maintenance in XGEO.
  • Develop, analyze, and implement astrodynamics algorithms with optimization methods.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in aerospace engineering or closely related fields upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in convex and stochastic optimization applied to space flight mechanics and optimal control.
  • Fluency in Python-based algorithms and associated libraries.
