Required Educational Background: Applicant must have a Ph.D. in materials science or a closely-related field. Postdoctoral experience in the energy field.

Required Skillset: For the research component of the position, the required skillset includes: Strong background in materials development and characterization in a harsh environment for energy applications.  In addition to conducting research, your duties may also include preparing reports, performing literature reviews, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, and assisting with other projects in the laboratory.  In addition, because this job is related to a new test rig, you will also be asked to participate in the setup of the new equipment.  Another requirement is a strong interest in basic and applied research. Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work both independently and within a team structure delivering project components on given time schedules; Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities: The research-related responsibilities of this position will include: Mentoring graduate students; Writing journal publications, preparing reports that summarize the work conducted for progress reports to funding agencies; Planning, developing, and implementing technical and scientific research programs; Contributing to proposal writing and acquisition of preliminary data.
