Description

Provide laboratory support under the direction of the Principal Investigator. Assist and perform studies related to ongoing laboratory research involving tumor immunology &immunotherapy with an emphasis on the following cancers: sarcoma and melanoma. The laboratory also conducts studies related to the effect of radiation on tumor immunity. Specific duties include tissue cell culture, flow cytometry PCR and other molecular and cell biology techniques, animal care, animal irradiation, transport of patient’s samples between clinic and laboratory, blood and tissue processing and storage, preparation of data for publication and grant proposals, ordering of supplies and equipment, upkeep of equipment, and general lab maintenance. Supervision of lab helpers and students working in the lab, and training of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows as required. Salary range: $26.17-$42.31 Hourly



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

· Ability to prepare data for publication and grant applications · Ability to write technical material in scientific language. · Demonstrated skill in RT-PCR’s, flow cytometry, and immunological and molecular biology assays. · Demonstrated experience in cell biology, microbiology, and molecular biology. · Basic molecular biological skills, e.g. Southern, Northern, Western and PCR, working with DNA, RNA, and proteins. · Skill in sterile technique and of maintaining cells in tissue culture. · Skill in using micropipettors, microscopes, centrifuges, scintillation counter, CO2 incubators, waterbaths, spectrophotometer, pH meter, autoclaves, flow cytometer. · Skill in conducting literature search and retrievals, both through use of bioscience library and on-line service. · A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or similar.
