The Center for Metabolic Research is seeking an Associate Scientist to participate in developing cardiac regenerative therapies based upon manipulation of cardiac metabolism in cardiomyocytes. The Associate Scientist provides technical support by performing scientific experiments within the research lab. Independently handles experiments or small research projects requiring advanced knowledge and experience in a specific scientific area or discipline. Maintains records of data and may be involved in training undergraduate students in research methods and procedures.

Responsibilities include:
•    Utilizing various molecular biology techniques such as RNA/protein isolation, Gel electrophoresis, qPCR, cell culture, genotyping, immunohistochemistry
•    Collecting and organizing data using statistical software packages
•    analyzing research results and preparing results for presentation at meetings and conferences, research reports, manuscripts, and papers
•    Ordering supplies, examines instrument malfunctions, and assists in their repair. 
•    May assist with the supervision of other research support staff
•    Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Ph.D. or M.D. in life sciences and at least four years of postdoctoral experience.

Required Skills & Abilities:
•    Demonstrated proficiency in molecular biology techniques
•    Ability to use the Microsoft office programs and applicable computer software
•    Demonstrated ability to complete experiments in a timely manner
•    Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
•    Experience operating all standard laboratory equipment
•    Demonstrated ability to work with laboratory animals

This is a grant funded position.
