Job Description
The purpose of this position is to engage students through leadership and civic engagement activities; offer co-curricular leadership programs in various formats for diverse populations; and to offer social and culture programs which enhance students’ sense of community on campus. This is accomplished by scheduling and coordinating leadership and civic engagement programs in different modalities; advising student leaders and providing opportunities to foster new skills and confidences in a diverse group of college students. Other duties include serving as alternative contact for MCCADA affinity group; advising student groups, representing Student Life at campus-wide programs.
  • Create leadership program curriculum
  • Create, assess and facilitate leadership and civic engagement programs for students, including coordinating event logistics
  • Plan student recognition activities
  • Develop and manage budgets related to leadership and civic engagement programs
  • Serve as advisor to student groups
  • Coordinate short- and long-term service opportunities, including Alternative Break travel volunteering opportunities
  • Host voter registration events
  • Serve as chaperone for day and overnight student travel
  • Plan social and cultural programming for students
  • Represent Student Life at various events and assist with Commencement
  • Provide office and program support, including serving on campus committees and assisting Director with various projects and programs

 


This is an exempt staff position. Includes a comprehensive benefits package offering medical, dental and vision coverage; generous paid time off; tuition assistance; and retirement savings.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivelant

Required Experience
Over one year and up to and including three years work experience in a related field required

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Teams & SharePoint)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel Administration, or related field preferred
  • Experience event planning and advising student organizations

Hours per Week
40 - 100%

General Weekly Work Schedule
Monday-Friday with some required evening/weekend hours. Work schedule to be determined by the supervisor.
