A part of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Texas A&M School of Dentistry in Dallas was founded in 1905 and is a nationally recognized center for oral health sciences education, research, specialized patient care and continuing dental education.
What we want
The School of Dentistry is looking for an individual to serve as a member of the department team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring a good level of laboratory experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting researchers in a detail oriented environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Required Education:
Appropriate Doctoral degree (MD, PhD or DDS)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Good oral and written English communication skills, passion for multidisciplinary research, record of peer-reviewed research papers,
Ability to work independently with general supervision, meet deadlines, detail-oriented and ability to prioritize tasks, and willingness to work with research animals (mice and rats).
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education:
PhD in neuroscience
Preferred Experience:
Experience in neuroscience research is a prerequisite.
Strong background and skills in slice recording combined with optogenetic manipulation
Experience in pain research
Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Job Responsibilities
Research – Pain Model Preparation
Conduct animal model preparation
Research - Pain Study
Perform optogenetic stimulation
Non-bench work
Perform data analysis and manuscript preparation
Other Duties
Performs other duties as assigned.
