Perform a variety of office support activities for the Assessment Center, including reception, answering inquiries, keyboarding, filing, test proctoring, and testing room preparation as required. Apply general knowledge of current administrative office support practices to perform regular and recurring activities. Requires contact with students, community, parents/guardians, family members, and other college employees and departments. Work is normally performed under general supervision of the Enrollment Services Director.



  • Provide excellent customer service to employees, students, external agencies, and the public

  • Screen calls, mail, email, visits, and inquiries; respond within scope of knowledge or refer to appropriate persons

  • Perform basic word processing tasks, such as compose letters and generate reports

  • Enter and maintain data in the Student Management System as required

  • Assist with preparing students and customers for a variety of tests and testing environments

  • Maintain organized testing rooms and replenish testing supplies as needed

  • Proctor college placement exams and classroom exams, tests, and assessments; provide appropriate disability accommodations as directed

  • Compile data and information from a variety of sources; use multiple web based interfaces and prepare standard reports as needed regarding testing activities in line with standard college procedures

  • Develop office procedures, routines, and filing systems as necessary to accomplish primary duties

  • Other related duties of similar scope and complexity

  • Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality



  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college-level coursework preferred, especially in computer, customer service, or education related coursework

  • Two or more years' related work experience; knowledge of the assigned field and current administrative office procedures to thoroughly and accurately perform the full scope of responsibility within the assigned department

  • Previous experience in a community or technical college setting preferred and/or comparable work experience in a similar job situation

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills; demonstrated ability to communicate with the general public in a courteous, helpful and clearly understood manner; ability to work with diverse populations

  • Strong organization skills; detail oriented; ability to move from one task to another effectively; demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize time and duties efficiently; ability to use confidentiality and use tact and discretion

  • Knowledge of and experience with computerized database systems, Microsoft Office programs, and standard office equipment; keyboarding speed of at least 30 wpm; basic knowledge of English composition and ability to work with numbers accurately

Salary range is $1,275.50-$1,434.50 per month DOQ; salary placement for current classified employees is per the classified bargained agreement. Typical scheduled is 8:30 am-5:30 pm Monday-Friday.  Medical, dental and insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board; State Retirement Plan; vacation and sick leave begin to accrue at the rate of 1 prorated day per month, dependent on percent of full-time, effective upon employment. This position has been designated as a bargaining unit position.

  • Visual Requirements: close vision sufficient to read files, documents, and computer screens and do close-up work; ability to adjust focus frequently
