The Global Chief Engineer – Crusher Liners is the technical expert for crusher liner product line, responsible for Product R&D, Lifecycle, Design, and Customer Interface. This position develops, reviews and approves technical scope and deliverables of products and research activities. The position is expected to contribute to the technology road map related to the product line and be a technical expert for the company.
The position is global and expected to operate cross- functionally with other groups, such as R&D, product engineering, electrical engineering, product management, procurement, regional sales, customer service, legal and intellectual property, and finance.
Takes part in research and product development tasks such as concept development, design validation with prototypes, system integration in a cross-functional project organization. Completes technical reports and product design documentation and other necessary technical documentation for the project by engaging with other experts and project resources and by utilizing state of the art engineering and analysis tools, with high quality and in timely manner. Acts as technical lead in his / her area in projects providing technical leadership and direction during technical meetings and other interactions (verbal or written). Provides technical feasibility assessments and ensures that technical solutions are commercially feasible. Participates in design review meetings. Continuously seeks for new innovations and ideas for the products and processes in the FLSmidth portfolio by researching and benchmarking industry solutions, disruptive technologies, and competitors. Assists regions as necessary technically to contribute to the growth of the product line.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
PhD / Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is not a requirement but an added advantage
MSHA certification, mine site experience a plus
A minimum of 12 years of work experience which include 8+ years of research and / or product development experience, preferably with material technologies, wear parts, castings.
Experience in heavy industry, specifically with crushing equipment in Mining or Aggregate Industries.
Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
Proficiency with root cause analysis. Training in process improvement methodology (5S, Kaizan,…).
Ability to understand the economic drivers of the mine and provide support to optimize value generation.
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Skilled in managing engineering projects.
Ability to understand, explain, and value complex, inter-related processing systems, projects and production strategies.
Ability to prepare clear communications in the form of presentations and technical reports.
Skilled in collaboration with a broad range of stakeholder, from customers to organization leaders.
Proven ability to operate independently and in multi-discipline teams
Strong knowledge about wear mechanism, wear testing of metals and composites.
