The Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiovascular has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Post Doctoral Associate to work on the UHealth Campus. The Post Doctoral Associate performs scientific research and studies under the supervision of managing staff. Moreover, the Post Doctoral Associate promotes institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community. The candidate will be responsible for developing fast and scalable techniques/algorithms for cardiovascular image processing and fusion of imaging modalities.

Develop and test high-performance image processing and data classification algorithms for segmentation of invasive and non-invasive cardiovascular images (e.g., angiography, IVUS, OCT, CT). The candidate will: (i) Analyze data, develop machine or deep learning methods for feature extraction and classification, and automatic image segmentation and tissue characterization, and (ii) Perform real-time fusion of different invasive and non-invasive imaging modalities (e.g., angiography, IVUS, OCT, CT), and generation of 3D reconstructed digital twins of coronary arteries, other vascular beds, valves or other cardiac structures. The candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary product development team with expertise in medical, AI, digital twin, and 3D modeling.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS  

  • MD or Ph.D. in Computer Science, or equivalent field

  • No prior experience required

  • Experience with medical (preferably cardiovascular) imaging processing (preferably real-time processing).

  • Excellent knowledge of Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar image processing tools highly preferred

  • Experience with machine learning and classification (e.g., KNN, support vector machine), AI technology, imaging systems, modeling software (e.g., Rhino, Fusion 360), and animation software (e.g., Maya, 3DMax) preferred.

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
