Position Summary Information

 

Objective

The primary role of the Programmer Analyst is to develop reports to retrieve institutional data and present it in meaningful ways to fulfill both internal and external data requests. An individual in this position is asked to create and validate a variety of different types of reports, which may be used to provide data for decision support, surveys, academic assessment, accreditation, operational support, benchmarking, etc. This position requires someone with a unique blend of the technical skills required to develop reports and the analytical skills needed to interpret and validate institutional data.

1. Develop ad hoc and self-service reports for administrative and academic offices, colleges, and departments to access needed data and information for decision-making; develop and maintain documentation regarding key reporting processes

2. Develop programming in SQL and other languages, using appropriate programs, as needed to support the development of reports and analysis

3. Analyze, evaluate, logically interpret, and summarize a wide variety of institutional data to provide timely, relevant, and accurate information to a broad range of internal and external audiences

4. Create and administer course evaluations and other surveys using online survey tool and generate survey reports using online tool

5. Train end users on use of software tools related to data reporting and analysis (e.g., Argos)

6. Attend conferences and meetings as assigned by the Directors or Dean. Serve on task forces and project teams. Perform necessary administrative duties to ensure smooth operations of the Institutional Research, Effectiveness, and Strategic Initiatives Office

1. Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a field related to programming or data analysis, or equivalent work experience
