Research Assistant Professor
Department of Radiology
Job Description
The Department of Radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is seeking an outstanding candidate for a Research Assistant Professor position with expertise in whole-brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) multi-parametric methodologies such as MR Spectroscopic Imaging (MRSI), Diffusion Tensor/Kurtosis Imaging (DKI), functional MRI, diagnostically relevant MRIs and data science analysis methods. These techniques and applications will have overlap with an interest in being used for the purposes of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and other analytical and informatics techniques.
A Ph. D. in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, physics or a closely related discipline with a minimum of three years of postdoctoral training in the above MRI methodologies is required, with some basic competencies, understanding, and interest in AI/ML and/or imaging informatics. The candidate should have knowledge in MRI physics, firsthand experience in operating MRI scanners, and exposure to or involved in MRI pulse sequence development, preferably on Siemens scanners. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to have extensive experience with scientific software development using Python, IDL, Matlab and C/C++.
The candidate will be expected to contribute to the development or implementation of new pulse sequences, signal processing, and data analysis methods with a focus on the application of machine learning techniques for imaging/neuroimaging research. Studies will be carried out in patient populations in collaboration with clinical and research faculty within the University of Miami and other institutions. The successful applicant will have access to the Siemens MRI scanners (i.e.,1 .5T and 3T) available in an outpatient imaging center.
The candidate may be invited to participate in departmental or institutional committees on AI/ML in the realm of data science. The ability to contribute cutting-edge intellectual input or code towards these initiatives is preferred. The successful candidate marries an understanding of AI/ML in the data science realm toward advancing basic science and clinical MR research.
Interested candidates are requested to submit their CV, cover letter, and 3 reference letters to:
