The School of Visual Arts and Design (SVAD) is a place for seeing, thinking, hearing, touching, learning, and creating. Art engages the senses and inspires the imagination; our curriculum is designed to do the same. We offer academic programs and courses of interest to artists and designers of all varieties, including B.A., BFA, and MFA degrees. The Opportunity

SVAD invites applications for a nine-month tenure-earning assistant professor in architecture. The anticipated start date is August 8, 2023. The selected candidate will teach a three-course load per semester. They will deliver courses at the undergraduate level that inspires majors in Architectural Design, Digital Media, and Architectural Theory. They will conduct scholarly research and service, interact with the community of practicing architects in Central Florida, collaborate with their colleagues from Valencia College, the University of Florida, and other partners while maintaining regular office hours. UCF supports and rewards teaching excellence. Faculty are expected to participate in department and university service including committee work.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master of architecture from an accredited institution. Evidence of competence with a range of materials, equipment and technologies, and effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated interest in forming partnerships with industry and within academia.
  • A record of diverse professional and/or distinctive scholarly work in the field of Architecture and Design.
  • A resourceful, collaborative, versatile thinker/producer with an emphasis on developing and teaching Design Studio courses, Digital Media, and/or Architectural Theory.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at an institution of higher education.

The digital portfolio must be in color not to exceed 20 pages. The first 10 pages must include labeled samples of student work from an institution of higher education assessed by the applicant.  The remaining 10 pages must consist of labeled samples of research, academic, and professional work. Portfolio upload should not exceed 10MB.
