The University of Miami, Particle Measurement and Technology Laboratory within the Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering Department at the University of Miami, seeks one bright and capable postdoctoral associate in Aerosol Science and Technology.

Post-doctoral Associate position in Aerosol Science and Technology

The ideal candidates must be interested in making an impact on this critical research field. More detailed information on the projects can be found at Dr. Yang Wang’s website: https://people.miami.edu/profile/yxw1545@miami.edu The ideal candidate will be working on projects related to:

  • Aerosol Instrumentation

  • Combustion emission characterization

  • Aerosol toxicological characterizations

  • Long-term atmospheric aerosol data analysis

A PhD in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or other relevant areas, an excellent academic history, the ability to work in teams, and a solid publication record is required.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.

Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.

Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.

Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education:

Ph.D. in relevant field

Experience:

No prior experience required

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions

Support PI in preparation and submission of grants Provide support in Course teaching and demos as required.

Department Specific Qualifications

Education:

PhD in Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or any other relevant field.

Certification and Licensing:

N/A

Experience:

Experience in working with aerosol instrumentation, long-term air quality data analysis, combustion emission, or studying the health effects of aerosols.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

  • Prior knowledge in Aerosol Science and Technology preferred

  • Prior experimental skills in collection and data analysis in Aerosol Instrumentation, Combustion Emission Characterization, Long-term Air Quality Data Analysis, and Aerosol Health Effects preferred
