With more than 11 million gross square feet of space, the highly dedicated team of Facilities Design and Operations serve as stewards of campus resources and infrastructure.
Utilities and Maintenance is part of Facilities Design and Operations. The Utilities and Maintenance department is responsible for the efficient operation, management and upkeep of all campus electricity, heating and cooling, as well as the repair and upkeep of all electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and roofing maintenance at the University.
Utilities and Maintenance is looking for a “B/C” Instrumentation and Controls technician to join the team.
The “B/C” Instrumentation & Controls Technician will perform as directed necessary maintenance, calibration, repairs, testing and commissioning required to provide safe, efficient and reliable operation of all instrumentation and control devices and systems associated with the Power Plant Complex. They will also conduct compliance audits and calibrations to ensure optimum accuracy for records and reports. The technician will also make major repairs or modifications to upgrade present equipment. They will also respond to emergency situations whenever they occur, and implement any and all needed corrective measures.

Minimum Qualifications
Ability to test, troubleshoot, assess, calibrate, repair and commission instrumentation and controls both digital, analog and pneumatic including, but not limited to:
- Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
- Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
- Discrete Controls
- Instrumentation including transmitters, transducers, meters and controllers
Preferred Qualifications
- High fluency in working with computers as the position encompasses strong demands that need computer utilization
- Electronics proficiency (digital and analog)
- Programming ability for various types of controls systems
- Ability to fully understand logic circuits (Both ladder and statement)
- Knowledge of schematics, blueprint reading
- Ability to troubleshoot circuits during normal and abnormal operating conditions
- Understand the theory and operation of steam boilers, steam turbines, electric generators and all related Power Plant equipment
- Ability to operate test equipment including but not limited to digital multi-meters, analyzers, power supplies, function generators, signal conditioners, oscilloscopes and logic probes
- Navy Nuclear Power trained candidates are highly desirable
- Training and competency with Emerson Delta V DCS platform
