The Nuclear Command Communications Systems Group (QKR) is a diverse group of talented software engineers, systems engineers, systems analysts, mathematicians, physicists, and technical leaders. We apply innovative engineering solutions to real-world Nuclear Command Control and Communications (NC3) problems to design, prototype, analyze, predict, assess and evaluate communications systems to ensure National Leadership has a survivable, secure, and resilient communications path for issuing nuclear orders to the warfighter in the face of real-world threats.

 

We are seeking an M&S Software Engineer to be part of a hardworking software team developing critical communications capabilities needed to accomplish numerous missions crucial to the defense of our nation. We are committed to becoming a widely recognized center of excellence for NC3 systems engineering.

 

As a Modeling & Simulation Software Engineer...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to work within a team to develop high-fidelity NC3 simulation software employed for predictive performance analysis, software validation and verification, prototyping algorithms, and help mature our DevOps.
  • Build, maintain, and improve automated analytical software tools and tool chains to enable rapid analysis of large data sets from complex operational systems to aid in the discovery and recognition of trends.
  • Contribute toward optimization efforts of our M&S results database, RF propagation database, Linux job queue manager, and workflows.
  • Support Sponsor meetings and on-site event execution at various government facilities.
  • Deliver presentations to Sponsors and the engineering community working groups effectively communicate proposed solutions and systems engineering recommendations. Document concept definitions, system requirements, technical recommendations, and analysis findings.
  • Propose innovative new concepts for next-generation NC3 capabilities. Grow into a leadership role coordinating internal and external development and analysis activities.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have earned at least a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another related field.
  • Have at least three years of experience in software engineering including coding, debugging, and regression testing.
  • Possess strong Java, C++, and/or Python skills.
  • Have excellent communications skills.
  • Thrive in a multi-discipline, multi-organization environment.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have earned a Master's degree (or higher) in Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another related field.
  • Have five years of experience in software development cycles for large DoD programs such as Ground-Based Missile Defense, NC3, Aegis Weapon System, or similar.
  • Are skilled at building meaningful relationships across organizational boundaries.
  • Hold a Top Secret Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Are experienced with software engineering processes and techniques.
  • Possess an active TS/SCI clearance.
