Job Description

The School of Medicine (SOM) Office of the Dean has an opening for two full-time University Staff Finance and Accounting Professional (open rank) positions. This is an opportunity to join the School of Medicine Finance team, a dynamic group of dedicated, customer service-orientated professionals tasked with supporting financial operations in the Dean’s Office, both for the SOM Dean’s Office, as well as departments within the School of Medicine. This role is critical to supporting the ongoing operations within the Dean’s Office as well as the SOM departments and centers we serve. We’re looking for a solutions-oriented, creative problem solver, with the insight and/or curiosity to challenge the status quo, and find new, innovative and more efficient ways of doing things. This position will require the use of analytical skills and critical thinking to lead and collaborate on a variety of complex projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborating with leadership on a wide range of budgetary and financial projects.
  • Implementing and leading a variety of cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Developing and communicating a variety of reports and presentations to program leaders and stakeholders.
  • Collaborating on the biannual salary setting process.
  • Advising, reconciling and reporting across fund types.
  • Working with administrators on deficit resolution.
  • Partnering, collaborating, and providing direction to internal and external stakeholders and partners on financial management, administration, and operations.
  • Conducting general financial activities, including but not limited to: journal entry/budget journal entry, account reconciliation.
  • Contributing to the collection, analysis and preparation of annual national and University surveys.
  • Participating in budget development, MOU execution and monthly financial analysis and review for the School of Medicine’s programs and initiatives (Shared Services, General Appropriation funding, School of Medicine, commitments, etc.).
  • Partnering with the CU Advancement Office and SOM departments on stewardship of gift funds.
  • This is not a comprehensive list of duties, as the dynamic nature of the SOM Dean’s Office provides continual opportunity for contributions to ad-hoc reporting and initiatives.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate Professional

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, public administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in a finance-related role.

Senior Professional

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, public administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in a finance-related role.

Principal Professional

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, healthcare administration, public administration, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Four (4) or more years of experience in a finance-related roleserving as a resource for others in a variety of financial matters.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in a financial role within a university, on an academic medical campus or within a health care institution.
  • Extensive experience with University and CU Medicine financial systems such as PeopleSoft Finance, AX, M-fin reporting.
  • Experience with Oracle Peoplesoft/HCM.
  • Experience using business intelligence reporting tools.
  • Experience in the development of all-funds budgets, and strategic contributions to enhancing budgeting processes.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring range for this position has been established as:

  • Intermediate Professional: $44,325 to $59,395
  • Senior Professional: $47,919 to $64,211
  • Principal Professional: $55,106 to $73,843

The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
