JOB DESCRIPTION
I. IDENTIFYING INFORMATION
Position Title: Mental Health Therapist
Location: Indianapolis-IU Health Morgan
Status: Full Time
FLSA: Exempt
Reports to: Program Director
Supervises: N/A
II. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
This position has the role of primary therapist for adults and youth seeking mental health counseling. The position will be part of the individual, couple, and family counseling program within Catholic Charities Indianapolis Inc.
III. POSITION CONTENT
A. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provides clinical counseling services for individuals, couples, and families.
2. Conducts comprehensive individualized assessments.
3. Makes collateral contacts when appropriate.
4. Develops treatment plans with participation of client.
5. Attends psychiatric staffing and staff meetings.
6. Works with Clinical Supervisor and Administrative Assistant in arranging case appointments.
7. Works with Administrative Assistant in determining financial responsibility of clients.
8. Provides one evening of counseling services as needed.
9. Complies with state and federal laws on privacy.
10. Other duties as necessary to ensure efficient functioning of the program
IV. POSITION SPECIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- General knowledge of developmental and behavioral dynamics of children, adolescents, adults, and families.
- Ability to use in-depth understanding of trauma informed practice theory which has been integrated and validated through practice.
- Ability to use various treatment approaches as indicated by assessment.
- Awareness of community resources.
- Ability to work collaboratively with agency staff, other professionals, and agencies in the community.
- Willingness to continue professional growth and share expertise with co-workers.
- Experience/ability to respond to cultural differences is required.
- Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics is required.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
1. Master’s Degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, counseling, or related field
2. Licensure by State of Indiana, and/or one year of post-master’s practice
3. Must be able to understand and to comply with the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Code of Conduct
4. Must be able to successfully complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis Child Safety Training
5. Background screening required
6. Valid driver’s license required
V. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Outpatient mental health setting conducting in-person and virtual counseling sessions
One evening per week as part of overall schedule required
