Summary:


The Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will provide oversight, develop, and analyze data on the organization’s diversity, equity, and inclusion with a deliberate focus on health equity. Background for this role may include, understanding of clinical outcomes. Responsible for providing leadership to the organization on ways to implement, study and develop programs through an equity lens, by advancing culturally fluent, community-responsive, and family-centered patient care and research, identifying, and eliminating inequities in health care for Children’s patients and families, and actively addressing key community-identified health inequities through patient care, data analysis and outreach.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead and track impact of all initiatives that focus on education, diversity, equity and inclusion and community engagement.
  • Research, develop, recommend, and execute creative strategies to foster the organization’s diversity goals. Identify metrics to measure impact of DEI program outcomes.
  • Review current practices and policies, assessing and analyzing the extent to which they support or hinder the Hospital’s diversity goals.
  • Collect and analyze statistical data to evaluate the Hospital’s population in accordance with diversity standards and goals.
  • Manage and oversee professional development on topics related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Collaborates with HR to ensue organization and leadership training development is inclusive for all.
  • This position works with internal and external partners to enhance and communicate the organization’s DEI brand
  • Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Provide training and policy updates to colleagues and organization working with legal to ensure legal compliance of management and staff.
  • Participate on select task force and committees which promote equal and equitable opportunities for all
  • Manages staff and operations of the DEI department
  • Responsible for day-to-day budget management of DEI
  • Works with CDEIO to identify departments and or units for DEI support

Technical Expertise

  • Experience working with multiple levels of the organization, including executives, physician leaders and physicians.
  • Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor Degree in Public Health, Policy, Organizational Development, or a related.
  • Certification: Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), Certified Diversity Executive (CDE), or other related diversity certification preferred. CDP certification required within one (1) year of employment.
  • Years of Relevant Experience: Minimum three years’ experience managing and administering DEI programs or a related function with responsibility in customer service excellence, internal/external relations, and/or diversity management in a large corporate setting or complex organization focused on strategic and/or diversity issues. Three years supervisory/management experience.
  • Other Experience:
    • Previous experience managing DEI-driven vendor relationships in a large corporate setting preferred
    • Strong understanding of current DEI trends and tools, and ability to stay aware of quickly changing national DEI-related rules and regulations
    • Strong project management skills required. Experience in strategic planning development, execution, and progress monitoring required
    • Strong change management capabilities and ability to flex/adapt to shifting business needs required
    • Ability to independently identify and analyze problems/issues, assess risks, create and evaluate alternative solutions, and recommend a course of action required
    • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and complex short- and long-term projects within desired timeframes and meet stated deadlines efficiently and effectively required
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with and influence all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to articulate complex issues and tailor messaging to a diverse range of audiences required
    • Strong situational leadership skills required. Ability to work diplomatically with a broad range of individuals, including senior management, government officials, customers, and employee resource groups
  • Years of experience supervising: Three years supervisory/management experience.
  • Knowledge of resource based relative value scale and its impact in the operations of the clinical enterprise.
