About This Position
Great opportunity for a Ph.D. graduate interested in molecular biology and other laboratory procedures including western blot, immuno-precipitation, protein expression, PCR, cloning, apoptosis assays and handling sequencing data.
The Department of Medicine at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate.
Conduct experiments; participate in planning and developing research protocols
Participate in planning and developing human and animal research protocols
Stay updated on the relevant literature
Participate in lab meetings and journals clubs, give presentations, and prepare manuscripts on findings for publications in close collaboration with the principal investigator
Share duties of the tissue bank
Provide support for laboratory infrastructure
Work with RNA, DNA, protein, plasmids, cell transfection, FACS and other basic techniques
Work in designing, cloning, protein purification, protein interaction, library screening
Maintain basic knowledge in bioinformatics analysis of lymphoma data sets using standard analysis algorithms
Perform complex and routine molecular biology and other laboratory procedures such including western blot, immuno-precipitation, protein expression, PCR, cloning, apoptosis assays and handling sequencing data
Prepare publication-quality figures and otherwise contribute to generation and submission of manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Power Point, and other graphics software as needed
Write reviews and book chapters along with the Principal Investigator. Assist the Principal Investigator in writing grants for funding to the NIH and state agencies. Review manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in a basic biological science or health discipline
Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
