Postdoctoral Associate - Lowen Lab at Emory University

Emory University

Job Description

An NIH-funded post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Anice Lowen, Ph.D., in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Emory University School of Medicine. The candidate will join a diverse and active team of virologists to perform cutting-edge research on the dynamics of influenza A virus populations within and between experimentally infected hosts.

Our core research centers on influenza A virus evolution, including the role of genetic exchange through reassortment, adaptation to new host species, and escape from immune pressure. We are interested in the mechanistic underpinnings and the epidemiological implications of viral evolution. For this work, we exploit molecular and classical virology techniques, single cell approaches, mathematical modeling, and in vivo infection models. We work with collaborators of diverse expertise within Emory and other U.S. and international sites. Please visit  https://www.lowenlab.com  for more information on the lab.

Successful candidates will be highly self-motivated, have a strong work ethic, and have excellent organization and communication skills. A Ph.D. in the biological sciences and expertise in virology or a related field is required. Knowledge of bioinformatics and animal models would be a major strength.

Salary is commensurate with experience and at NIH postdoctoral stipend levels. To apply, please send a cover letter, CV, and contact information of at least two professional references to Dr. Lowen (anice.lowen@emory.edu ). The review process will start immediately and continue until the position is filled.
