The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Genomic and Precision Medicine team. What you need to know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience

Required Education and Experience:
Appropriate bachelor’s degree
Four years of relevant professional experience. A Master's degree is equivalent to two years of experience
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Molecular and cellular biology research (perform PCR, Western blot, reverse transcription, and qPCR, mammalian cell line, human iPSC cells and primary cell culture, D.N.A., R.N.A., protein extraction)
Immunohistochemistry staining, including IF and regular H&E histology staining in cell and animal tissues
Mouse physiology, genetics, biology, and development experiments, including mouse breeding, genotyping, tail vein injection, and microsurgery
Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment
Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree in biological science or microbiological sciences
Experience in managing mice colonies, genotyping and anatomy; establishing and analyzing disease models in mice and rats; primary cell and cell line cultures and comprehensive molecular and cellular biology techniques; laboratory IACUC and E.H.S preparations
Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in molecular cloning and plasmid transfection in cell culture; virus production, in vivo, and in vitro application
Mouse heart dissection, processing, and staining
Embryo dissection; echocardiography and data analysis
Langendorff perfusion and primary cardiomyocyte isolation
Experience with rat handling and physiology
Responsibilities
Designs, plans, conducts, and coordinates experiments in support of various research projects. Operates all the instrumentation needed for projects (training will be provided as needed). Prepares reagents and solutions and performs experimental work and bioinformatics analysis as needed
Optimizes novel assays and protocols under team guidance
Maintains laboratory organization; monitors lab reagents and ordering; troubleshoots problematic results
Documents experimental procedures in precise detail. Keeps detailed records of data. Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, and technical evaluation of research experiments and results
Directly interacts and reports to the P.I. Summarizes results for inclusion in scientific and clientele-oriented publications. Prepares and writes proposals to funding agencies
Participates in lab meetings within the center and other departments. Participates in joint projects involving the laboratory team
Performs other duties as assigned
