The Opportunity

The Department of Nursing Systems in the College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure earning lecturer position to teach didactic nursing courses for multiple programs offered by the UCF College of Nursing. Programs include the RN to BSN, AS to BSN Concurrent, MSN, DNP, and Ph.D.  The position will be located on the UCF Orlando Main Campus and is expected to begin summer or fall of 2023.

The selected candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues from the Department of Nursing Systems, the Department of Nursing Practice, and other colleges and departments of UCF. The selected candidates will be expected to remain actively involved in professional organizations, maintain scholarship in their field, and actively seek opportunities for and participate in College of Nursing faculty governance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining and maintaining required professional development to plan, organize, and deliver nursing instruction in didactic, distance, hybrid, and/or classroom settings to promote student success. (ADL5000, IDL6543)

  • Supporting and promoting the college and departmental missions centered on excellence in teaching and learning through quality instruction, curriculum enhancement, and service.

  • Collaborating with administration, department chair, faculty, and peers to evaluate, revise, and innovate curriculum to assure student competency of course content.

  • Service to school and university committees.

  • Assist in evaluating and integrating subject matter pertinent to the faculty member’s expertise in various nursing courses.

  • Student advisement and mentorship.

  • Participating in planning, organizing and developing curriculum for the Nursing Programs.

  • Service to school and university committees.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in nursing or a related field from an accredited institution by date of hire.

  • Multi-State RN License issued by the State of Florida (must reside in Florida).

  • Academic online teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or above.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Student advising experience.

  • Academic classroom teaching experience at the baccalaureate level or above.

  • Demonstrated experience in course and curriculum design.

  • Distance education quality certification (Quality Matters, Online Learning Consortium, etc.).

  • Certification in nursing practice area of expertise (CCRN, CEN, CNE, etc.).
