POSITIONSUMMARY: A postdoctoral position is open immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Li Ding at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO.  We are looking for a highly motivated computational or experimental biologist to join our interdisciplinary team of research biologists, medical doctors, engineers, mathematicians, and computer scientists studying cancer and other human diseases. We are at the forefront of developing and utilizing computational tools to solve previously unattainable problems through creative use of big data in the biomedical and clinical research. Combining bioinformatics and experimental approaches to advance precision medicine, we have made important contributions to a number of large-scale cancer genome studies, including TCGA, ICGC, CPTAC, PDXNet, HTAN, PE-CGS, SenNet, and GUDMAP. We have also created various cancer and other diseases models (especially kidney diseases) that are valuable in studying the etiology and treatment for these devastating diseases. We combine in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro methods to study the pathogenic mechanisms in a multi-disciplinary manner. Ongoing projects in our laboratories involve cancer proteogenomics, molecular circuitry regulating tumorigenesis, pathogenesis of human diseases, and functional genomic studies based on new discoveries from next generation sequencing. The successful candidate will participate in and lead research projects using experimental or computational biology approaches to address questions that are both fundamental in biology and highly relevant in the clinic. Further information about our research can be found here: http://dinglab.wustl.edu/ .

CRITICALSKILLS/EXPERTISE: Demonstrated ability to work independently and to communicate with laboratory staff and investigators. Ability to generate, analyze, and organize data and reports. Ability to give oral presentations in various settings. Ability to assist the preparation of manuscripts and grant applications.

MINIMUMEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Recent PhD/MD in a relevant field required. For the computational biologist position, experience in computer software and common computer languages, bioinformatics, mathematics, physics, computer sciences, and related fields is preferred. For the experimental biologist position, experience with molecular biology and cell biology experimentation, transgenic mice, omics, and imaging is preferred. Our lab provides a great platform for the successful candidate to further develop skills in both standard research approaches and in emerging technologies.

Interested candidates should submit their curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, pdf of up to four most representative publications, and contact information of three references via e-mail to Dr. Li Ding at lding@wustl.edu .

The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.  They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by the personnel so classified.
