Job Description

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will primarily support the Executive Director of Advancement and help bolster the Annual Fund and Institutional Advancement overall. The position is full-time and includes health benefits. Occasional evenings/weekends for select events may be required.

Primary responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Director of Advancement in carrying out plans and goals, helping to manage the annual fund calendar and schedule of appeals to ensure deadlines are met
  • Help write (draft), edit/proof, develop and finalize solicitations, presentations, marketing materials, web and social media updates; execute mail, email merges and e-appeals using Microsoft and Blackbaud products
  • Using strategic approaches and quantifiable Actions, manage a portfolio of 25-100+ Annual Fund donors with the goal of boosting engagement and giving. Strategic approaches may include increased personal outreach, Thank-you calls, enhanced stewardship, cultivation through events, creation of giving circles/societies, careful follow up of email and phone inquiries
  • Develop, track and oversee the strategic approach for cultivating, inspiring gifts and engagement from some of the following targeted groups: MHC Alumni, Graduating Seniors, Young Alumni, Honors Cohorts, Parents, senior Auditors, Faculty/Staff-Alumni, Alumni by Dept. or Major, Athletic Dept. Alumni. Strategies may include working with Alumni Relations and other Staff to develop mini-events, online engagement opportunities, Committees, etc.
  • Serve as a liaison with vendors, staff, professors or board members – handling special projects and/or donor-centered events, including Senior Class Gift and Giving Tuesday involving students, volunteers, donors, and other constituents
  • Assist in researching best practices, and gathering other helpful data as it pertains to obtaining new and innovative fundraising ideas
  • Data entry in Raiser’s Edge database including prospect research notes, biographical updates & corrections, Actions and donor inquiries
  • Manage Office Admin staff and tasks including Acknowledgement letters, RNL data updates/entry and Pledge reminders
  • Cultivate a list of annual fund donors for increased annual fund gifts or directed major gift support

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

  • Raiser’s Edge or similar database experience required
  • Familiar with Net Community or similar online platform (desired)
  • Familiar with crowdfunding and other fundraising platforms a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational time-management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Savvy with mail and email merge

Salary: $65,000 - $80,000 based on experience and expertise.

Reports to: Executive Director of Advancement

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • New York, NY 10065: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
