Job Description:
The 2-Year Postdoctoral Researcher will design and synthesize molecular cages and small inorganic complexes to investigate electron transfer properties, host-guest properties, and/or catalytic properties. The researcher will study the molecules' properties by UV-Vis, NMR, IR spectroscopies, as well as electrochemistry. Other techniques may be employed as necessary such as stopped-flow or ion exchange chromatography. Additionally, the researcher will assist in training younger students and frequently communicate research progress to the supervisor. The researcher will comply with all safety protocols.
Note: This position is temporary and shall not be extended beyond two (2) calendar years from the date of hire. While this appointment extends for a maximum of two (2) calendar years from the hire date, employment may be terminated after one year pursuant to policy and with appropriate notice.
Job Duties:
70% Research in the design, synthesis, and characterization of inorganic molecules. Study of electrochemical and host-guest properties.
15% Writing reports and scientific articles for publication, preparation, and delivery of presentations, and contribute to grant proposals.
10% Help manage day-to-day operation of the Elgrishi research group; including assisting in the training of younger students.
5% Design and execute proof-of-concept experiments for new research directions
- Minimum qualifications
Ph.D. in chemistry or related field
- Preferred qualifications
Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry or related field; Demonstrated experience in synthesis, electrochemistry, and/or host-guest chemistry as evidenced by publication records. Experience with air-free synthesis techniques. Experience with preparing manuscripts for publication.
