About the Opportunity

Job Summary:

Seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Project Coordinator to play a leadership role in a four-year measurement development project funded by the Institute for Education Sciences (R305A220249). Appointment is for one year, with the potential for renewal. The goal of the project is to develop and evaluate a school-based, whole-child screener to facilitate the simultaneous consideration of both (a) current student functioning across multiple domains of development and (b) social risk factors. Functioning somewhat independently, the Postdoctoral Research Fellow will hold roles in data management and analyses, supervision of undergraduate and graduate team members, and preparation and dissemination of materials. Access to current and archival datasets, opportunities for manuscript and grant preparation, and the ability to accrue hours for licensure in psychology will be provided.  The position will be directly supervised by Dr. Amy Briesch within the Department of Applied Psychology; however, the fellow will work with a team of faculty and graduate students at both Northeastern University and the University of Connecticut.


Responsibilities:

The fellow will serve as the project coordinator for the IES-funded project. This includes (but is not limited to): facilitating school and participant recruitment, scheduling of data collection; supervising student research assistants; and collecting, managing, analyzing, and disseminating data.  


Qualifications:

  • Received a doctoral degree in clinical, community, school, or educational psychology; special education; social work; public health; or a related field by the start of the appointment
  • Expertise and interest in promotion of social, emotional, and behavioral functioning of school-aged youth
  • Commitment to research that advances educational equity and inclusion and reduces disparities.
  • Demonstrated skills with education-focused research methodologies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong record of school-based research experiences
  • Prior experience in school-based recruitment and supervision of research team members
  • Documented independence in use of education-focused research methodologies
  • Documented independence in applied research projects involving schools
  • Prior experience in all aspects of project management, including supervision of undergraduate and graduate research team members
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
