The College of Pharmacy is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a member of the Pharmaceutical Sciences team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. Required Education:

  • Appropriate doctoral degree

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education:

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Neuroscience or Immunology

Preferred Experience: 3 years relevant professional experience

  • Prior experience in epigenetic, signal transduction and neurodegeneration.

Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic background in molecular biology techniques include Western Blotting analysis, gene expression, enzyme assays, ELISA, immunocytochemistry/ immunohistochemical imaging and live cell imaging, and Stereotaxic surgery including post-op care Microdissection Behavioral assays.
  • Ability to conduct animal behavior assessment and ability to collect and compile the Excel, Power Point, Words, Publication, reference manager and others.
  • The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing experiments and writing manuscripts for publication, and abstracts for presentation at national and international meetings.
  • Manuscript writing and grant writing and submission experience.
  • Ability to perform clinical tissues/samples, tissue culture, transgenic mice, cell and molecular in vitro and in vivo approaches to identify and manipulate signal transduction pathways associated with neurodegenerative processes.
  • Highly motivated, be able to work both Independently and collaboratively and show excellent critical thinking, scholarly ability and good written and communication skills, and have experience in genomics and epigenetics.
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities


Job Responsibilities:

  • Design protocol for Lab procedure projects including, but not limited to, cell isolation using techniques such as cell culture, Western blot, DNA and RNA purification, PCR, ELISA, immunocytochemistry/histochemistry and flow cytometry.
  • Separating plasma and Isolating immune cells from HIV patients and drug users' blood samples.
  • Participate in general lab organization and maintenance.
  • Execute and trouble-shoot experiments. Maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Collect and process samples from in vivo (animal model) to obtain data for research purposes.
  • Maintenance of animal care and facilities.
  • Manuscript and Grant Writing
  • Write and edit scientific reports based on experiment outcomes. Present results at conferences, seminars, and meetings.
  • Perform Other duties as assigned.
