General Statement of Duties
Counselors will provide guidance, instruction and supervision of students ages 6-17years old in accordance with Mount Wachusett Community College's educational goals, standards, and health & safety regulations. Counselors will work alongside our team of instructors and management to plan, prepare and conduct age appropriate lessons and hands-on activities. Counselors will lead explorations, stories, crafts, nature games, large motor activities and with a focus on science, math, technology, engineering and leadership. Programs focus on educational and team building activities on a daily basis.
Protect the physical and emotional welfare of students, fellow staff, and self
Work with peers to develop and teach lesson plans and prepare materials as needed
Maintain an organized work environment and participate in daily cleaning tasks
Assume additional related duties as requested
Visually identify safety issues related to daily operation
Monitor student groups in all types of environments (indoors, outdoors, large and small groups) and listen for key safety concerns and alerts
Navigate, run, and play and easily access all areas of MWCC
Appropriately address and communicate with students, parents/guardians and other staff
Applicants must be at least 18 years old by June 30, 2016.
Have experience and enjoy working with children.
Have a strong interest in math, science, technology, engineering, large motor and outdoor education.
Show ability to design and implement lessons including games and crafts.
Certifications in CPR (child and adult levels) and basic first aid- current- Preferred.
Have experience leading youth groups independently and be organized and self-motivated.
Candidates must be flexible with hours and changes that occur daily and creative in planning.
Be available June 27 ? August 3, 2016 for various times, Monday-Friday
Salary: $10.00-$11.00 varies with experience
Hours per Week: Temporary seasonal employees hours vary based on enrollment
