General Summary

The Director of Student Financial Aid is responsible for the processing and reporting of federal and state financial aid programs according to government regulation.

Specific Position Duties

- Serves as the administrator of student financial aid; – Coordinates financial aid efforts with other student services departments; – Participates in the development and maintenance of financial aid policies and procedures as required by funding agencies and the College; – Assists with the coordination of the financial aid student complaint and appeal procedures for the College and makes recommendations to the Associate Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management; – Compiles, verifies and submits all state and federal reports; – Supervises and motivates personnel; – Establishes and maintains positive and effective working relationships with students, college employees and the public; – Works effectively in a team environment with a customer service focus; – Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing; defines problems, collects data, etc.; – Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the community; – Coordinates data transmission of electronic information with outside agencies; – Processes aid awards within local, state and federal guidelines; – Protects the institution from liability by adhering to applicable regulations; – Supports the recruitment and retention strategies of the college; – Assists in recruitment, advising and retention of students; – Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree from a accredited college or university; – A strong commitment to the mission of the community college; – Experience in organizing, developing, and implementing operational systems and guidelines; – Experience with and in managing a high volume workflow office; – Excellent supervisory, administrative, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills; – Knowledge of principles and processes for delivering exceptional customer service, including student needs assessment and the evaluation of customer satisfaction; – Strong organizational skills in handling and directing multiple and complex assignments and projects; – Proficiency with use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the Internet. – Supervisory and conflict resolution experience.
