Moreton Bay positions

22106 – Associate Professor or Professor of Computer Science

You will lead and mentor our small but extremely talented staff within the Technology Discipline and grow our national and international reputation in both research and teaching. You will build on our research strengths in the broad areas of data science; cyber security; human factors / design science; and smart design for industry (including machine learning & AI, IoT, Cloud, security & networking) as well as establishing transdisciplinary links within and outside of UniSC. If you are a talented person working in other areas of computer science who feels they can help us build transdisciplinary links within and outside of the University, then we would also welcome your application.

Ideally, you will be able to teach across a broad range of courses at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level in the areas of computer science, data science and information technology.

22105 – Chair of Sustainable Transport Engineering

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) and University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) have collaborated on an initiative that will see you champion strategic transport research and development at UniSC, whilst building mutual transport capability between UniSC and DTMR to address future transport opportunities in Queensland.

You will explore how transport infrastructure can become more sustainable by:

  • enabling shift towards low and zero emission transport modes;
  • developing low carbon infrastructure solutions that are more resilient;
  • using advanced technologies and data to optimise infrastructure delivery and management; and
  • enhancing the safety, accessibility, and journey experience for users.

You will boost local capability and capacity in industry at the graduate degree level but also at the technician level to find the solutions to build and manage our transport system of tomorrow. You will explore how transport technology is connected and integrated and how it enables advanced analytics, smarter control and highly valued client facing services by changing how we operate our transport network to be more customer-centric.

Sunshine Coast

22140 – Associate Professor or Professor of Agricultural Biotechnology

You will have significant links with Australian and International agriculture industries, as well as state and federal agencies. You are an effective leader, capable of building a significant externally funded research program at UniSC that employs and supports early career researchers and grows UniSC’s Higher Degree Research Student cohort. You have a strong track record of publications in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as demonstrable impact pathways with industry. You connect with existing research strengths within UniSC such as the Australian Centre for Pacific Islands Research Centre.

UniSC has a number of industry partnerships that you will develop close and effective relationships with. These include the Food and Agribusiness Network (FAN), and associated Turbine Precinct being developed on the Sunshine Coast. Applicants with connections to existing agriculture / food research clusters (e.g. Future Food Systems CRC, Food Agility CRC) are strongly encourage to apply.
