Klaus Keil, a planetary scientist with the University of Hawaii’s Institute of Geophysics and Planetology, and Servco Pacific Chairman and CEO Mark Fukunaga will head up the search committee charged with finding a successor to Manoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw.
The committee of about two dozen faculty members, students, deans, administrative staff, alumni and business leaders held its first meeting on Friday.
The university has retained the Mainland-based executive search firm Isaacson, Miller to help with the search.
The committee will begin screening applicants and nominees in January, and on-campus interviews will be scheduled for March and April, the university said. UH President M.R.C. Greenwood hopes to submit a recommendation to the UH Board of Regents by late spring next year.
