Edinboro University officials recently announced that the University has named Craig Grooms as its new director of undergraduate admissions.
Grooms, formerly the Executive Director at College Summit-West Virginia, joined Edinboro’s Admissions team June 1. He brings to Edinboro more than 20 years of progressively vast and diverse leadership experience in the field of college admissions. He has worked at urban, suburban and rural campuses at public and private colleges and universities with enrollments ranging from 1,800 to 26,000 students.
Throughout his time in admissions, he has held positions at six higher education institutions, including the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Denver, and the College of Wooster. Grooms’ career ranged from managing a single territory to an entire admissions staff and budget.
“I was initially attracted to Edinboro University because of the presence of a dedicated faculty, staff and administration,” he said. “That, combined with a diverse student body, made Edinboro a top choice for me. The University is in the midst of a period of growth that is visible the moment you step on campus.” Grooms said one of his goals for the Undergraduate Admissions Office is “to continue to build upon the success achieved over the past several years. There truly are great things happening here!”
Earning his master’s degree in Public Policy and Management at the University of Pittsburgh, Grooms had been awarded his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations and Labor Studies at the West Virginia Institute of Technology.
While working at a variety of public and private institutions in diverse settings, Grooms gained valuable experience as a recruiter for minority students at several universities. At Edinboro University, Grooms will use his leadership experience to direct a team of talented admissions officers in maintaining Edinboro’s growing enrollment.
