Michael Zimmerman new provost at Evergreen State College

After a national search, The Evergreen State College has hired Michael Zimmerman as its next academic vice president and provost.
“Michael brings to Evergreen an extraordinarily rich background in teaching, scholarship, public engagement and leadership in higher education,” college president Les Purce said in a news release issued Wednesday.
Zimmerman, a biology professor at Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind., has more than 30 years of experience working in public and private institutions. He has served as dean of colleges of arts and sciences at both Butler University and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He ended his tenure as dean at Butler in 2009.
Zimmerman has a bachelor’s degree in geography from the University of Chicago and a doctorate in biology from Washington University in St. Louis.
