Mary Marcy has been named the new president of Dominican University in San Rafael. She will be the ninth leader of the 121-year-old college.
Marcy comes to Dominican from Bard College, where she has been Provost of Bard College at Simon's Rock and vice president since 2004. Her first day at Dominican will be July 1, 2011.
"In Dr. Marcy, we have identified a strong leader who can build on our strengths and take the university to a new level," said Andrew Barowsky, chair of the 12-person presidential search committee and vice chair of the board of trustees.
Marcy succeeds Joseph Fink, who has been president of Dominican for 23 years. Under Fink, Dominican grew from 650 students to over 2,200 students.
