Kettering University is searching for its seventh president.
The private engineering college has hired a national consulting firm to recruit candidates to replace President Stan Liberty, who agreed to stay up to two years after his contract ended in June.
“We’re looking for a leader who has a vision for Kettering going forward ... a leader with great communication skills, who will be involved not only in the community but actively with alumni and other constituents of the school,” said Gary L. Cowger, Kettering Board of Trustees chairman and former president of General Motors North America.
It’s been a rocky era for Kettering. The university celebrated big milestones in recent years, including national recognition for its cutting-edge entrepreneurship model, but it also saw a historic round of layoffs and enrollment declines through the recession.
