Ann Herda-Rapp, associate professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County, has been named chair of the search advisory committee to recommend a new campus executive officer/dean for UWMC.
Marv Van Kekerix, the interim chancellor of the University of Wisconsin Colleges and University of Wisconsin-Extension, was on campus today to formally launch the process.
According to Van Kekerix, national advertising for the positions will start in January and finalists will interview on campus in April. The final selection will be made before the end of the spring semester in May 2011, subject to approval by the UW System Board of Regents.
Van Kekerix explained that the UW Colleges are conducting a national search for the position because “the campus executive officer and dean is not just the head of the campus. He or she also plays an important part in the community, and we want to be sure we are attracting highly qualified candidates who can fill both roles.”
The successful UW-Marathon County candidate will succeed Sandra R. Smith who will step down effective December 31 and will be replaced by interim CEO/dean Keith Montgomery.
