The state College Board has named its preferred candidates to lead Jackson State University and Alcorn State University.
Former Norfolk State University President Carolyn Meyers will visit the Jackson State campus Dec. 1 in anticipation of becoming the university’s next leader.
Fisk University vice president Christopher Brown will visit Alcorn on Nov. 30.
The College Board will announce its final decisions following campus interview sessions with alumni, students, faculty and staff.
Campus constituents will have an opportunity to give feedback before the hires are finalized, but that process typically has been a formality.
Meyers and Brown are expected to assume the presidencies in January.
Presidents are paid $192,937 at Alcorn and $270,500 at JSU.
College Board leaders said they received more than 50 applications for each of the positions.
